I would like to welcome you to the Andrew Gomarsall Testimonial Year 2011/12.
During the course of 2011 we a planning a series of high profile, unique and fun events to celebrate Gomars rugby career and to thank him for his contribution to a sport we love. Capped 35 times for his country, a participant in no less than three England World Cup campaigns, a holder of a Word Cup medal and matching MBE, Andy has achieved things in his sport that us lesser mortals can only marvel at and applaud in equal measure. He has played 200 times in the English Premiership and since the early nineties has represented Bath, Wasps, Worcester, Bedford, Gloucester, Harlequins and Leeds.
Playing at scrum half, he was known for having a fast and accurate pass, a good “rugby brain” and not a bad kicker of goals either. But for those who know him outside of rugby he is also a warm, caring and supportive guy and devoted to his wife Fran and daughters Indianna and Olivia. It is for these reasons so many people have volunteered to support him in his testimonial year.
During the year there will be a variety of different events – dinners, gold, shooting – information about which, you will find on this website. If you would like to join us at any of these occasions, you will also find information here on how to do so.
Our objective is to have fun during the year, celebrate Gomars career and raise money for his benefit and also for his two chosen charities, the RPA Benevolent Fund and the C Group, the Royal Marines charity.
Once again, welcome and I hope we get the chance to meet at some point in the next twelve months.
Mike Hughes
Testimonial Committee Chairman
